Permaclear has launched a new automotive product that improves driving visibility by applying a coating to the windscreen which actively repels water and dirt. Unlike other coating products that rely on the driver manually applying them by spraying the product onto the windscreen and buffing with a cloth and then having to constantly re-apply to maintain the coating, ‘Windscreen StayClean’ is simply added to the washer bottle instead of traditional washer bottle additives. Not only does it clean the windscreen every time the vehicle’s wash-wipe system is activated, it automatically applies and maintains a special polymer coating that repels water. The effect is immediately visible as water simply beads off the windscreen as you drive.

The surface of glass is not actually smooth; the microscopic pits and troughs act as a trap for water and dirt. Permaclear smoothes out these undulations so that water is repelled. Apart from improved visibility, it also means that wipers can be used less; they make less noise and last longer. It also makes it easier to remove dead insects and bird lime. StayClean is ideal for cold weather and makes ice easier to remove.
