Cleaning in the kitchen takes a backward step?
White Vinegar has been used safely in the home for centuries, but in recent years its popularity for cleaning within the restaurant and catering trade has steadily grown. The reasons behind the increasing popularity of time honoured cleaning products such as white vinegar in the food handling and catering industry is clear; not only is it a cost effective and safe cleaner, but it is also an extremely and effective multipurpose cleaner due to its acidity.
Cleaning with white vinegar is also a smart way to avoid using harsh chemical cleaners whilst still achieving clean and hygienic results. Dri-Pak has been manufacturing traditional cleaning products for over 50 years; Managing Director, Bruce Maxwell comments, “Although caterers rely heavily on chemical based cleaners to clean kitchen surfaces and restaurant tables, they probably haven’t given much thought to what is left behind once the water content has evaporated. This should be a consideration if the surface is being used for food preparation. Our white vinegar is a non-toxic, cleaning grade product with minimal health & safety implications; gloves do not need to be worn, can be used on non-ventilated areas as it has no harmful fumes and it is perfectly safe for the preparation of raw food.”
Bruce continues, “Not only is white vinegar a low cost general purpose cleaner it has strong environmental credentials"
White Vinegar is produced by Dri-Pak in the UK, and does not contain bleach, chlorine or phosphates and is biodegradable. White Vinegar is available in 500ml bottles from wholesalers, supermarkets, independent and hardware stores. Alternatively ask your janitorial supplier. For further tips on cleaning with White Vinegar please visit www.dri-pak.co.uk.

Soap Flakes for a Successful Scent Free Hunting
The sense of smell is many animals primary defence against predators. So when hunting, as well as deceiving animal’s senses of sight with camouflage outfits, it is imperative to ensure your scent is masked as well.
Our homes are full of scents that our senses have become accustomed to, such as hairspray, perfumes and cooking smells, so much so in some cases that we can no longer smell them. Many hunters believe that washing clothes and equipment is sufficient to remove these odours, but washing powders often contain scents and perfumes that will act as an invisible warning signal to animals.
Specialist odour eliminators for hunting are available, but these can often be costly and difficult to use. Soap Flakes from Dri-Pak are a quick, easy and cost effective way to remove odours from clothing as they do not contain any perfumes, enzymes or bleaches.
To eliminate odours, simply hand wash clothes in a warm Soap Flakes solution and rinse thoroughly with clean water. Wring out excess water and dry on a line outside. Soap Flakes are also suitable for cleaning and eliminating odours from outdoor wear, boots and equipment. After washing, place clothes and equipment in airtight containers or bags to prevent household smells permeating them.

Make the right impression in sports facilities
Granwax Flooring has launched two exclusive new products to their ‘Total’ range of wood floor finishes - Sport 1K and Sport 2K. Sport 1K and 2K finishes are ideal for specialized commercial applications such as sports halls, gymnasiums and other locations used for sporting activities where durability is of prime importance.
Sports floors are continuously exposed to extremely heavy traffic which can leave them looking old and worn, and eventually cause irreparable damage if not properly finished and protected. A sports floor is a costly investment for any Facilities Manager; not only does it need to provide the right degree of traction for a sports surface and have extreme durability, it needs to have a quality appearance as this can have a big impact on the perception of a leisure venue. Granwax’s Sport finishes offer a resolution to this problem, ensuring a hard wearing and beautiful finish every time.
Granwax Sport 1K, like all of Granwax’s floor finishes, is comprised of a specially developed water-based polyurethane formula. Containing only one component, Sport 1K provides a resilient and long-lasting finish as well as excellent damage and chemical resistant properties. The Sports 1K finish is ideal for use on wood block, strip and parquet flooring, and can be used to treat both new and refurbished sports floors.
Sport 2k comprises all of the benefits of the sport 1k finish, but being a 2 pack system has increased durability making sport 2k ideal for sports floors with extremely heavy traffic.
Carl Blythe, Granwax Director commented, “Granwax has been a trusted name in wooden floor finishes for nearly 100 years, and as such we take pride in producing high quality, highly durable products. Sport 1K and Sport 2K are no exception, providing contractors with an easy to use, fast drying formula that is ideal for sports floors. In addition, both Sport 1K and Sport 2K have VOC levels of less than 90 grams per litre, making them safe for use in confined areas as well as meeting the EU air quality legislation regarding VOC’s.”
Sport 1K and Sport 2K are available in a Satin (low sheen) finish. Sport 1K and Sport 2K are available in 5ltr bottles, from selected hardware stores and distributors.

Banish Unsightly Moss For Summer!
As winter turns to spring, many people venture into their gardens to discover paths and patios have developed a thick coating of moss. Our increasingly mild and damp winters create an ideal breeding ground for moss, making affected areas slippery and unsightly. But there is an easy and cost effective way to have your paths and patios looking clean and clear in time for summer, Soda Crystals from Dri-Pak!
Traditionally, Soda Crystals have been utilized in a range of cleaning and laundry tasks, however, it is a little known fact that they are also extremely effective for removing moss. Soda Crystals are an alkali based cleaner, and unlike most specialist garden cleaners do not contain bleach, meaning they will not take colour out of the stonework when used on patios and paths.
To remove moss, simply sprinkle Soda Crystals directly onto affected area and use a watering can or hose to dampen. Alternatively, put down Soda Crystals when rain is expected. Leave for approximately one day, or until the moss turns brown. Use a firm brush to remove moss, and thoroughly rinse area to remove any residue. Soda Crystals are biodegradable, but care should be used when the rinsing water is near ponds or other plant life.
Soda Crystals can also be used to remove moss from stone ornaments. Simply spray affected areas with liquid Soda Crystals and leave for an hour before giving it a stiff brushing and rinsing away.
Soda Crystals are available from selected supermarkets and hardware stores in 1kg bags and have a RRP of £0.84. For further information or uses for Soda Crystals, please visit www.dri-pak.co.uk

White Vinegar to the rescue for Car Carpets and Upholstery!
Keeping your car clean is always a chore, especially in winter when removing snow and grit from your car is a constant battle. The carpeting in your car is inevitably the hardest hit area, as every piece of dirt, salt or grit picked up by your shoes during the day is trodden in and embedded into the fibres.
Chemical based upholstery and carpet cleaners are available, but these can often be costly and give off hazardous fumes, especially if confined within a car interior. For an easy, safe and cost effective way to have your carpets and upholstery looking as good as new, why not try traditional cleaning favourite, White Vinegar!
To get your car interior sparkling again, start by vacuuming mats, carpets and upholstery to remove any loose dirt or debris. In a clean trigger spray bottle, mix a solution of equal parts White Vinegar and warm water and shake well. Spray the vinegar solution onto affected areas and rub with a soft, clean cloth. Repeat the process until the stain has disappeared. To remove lingering odours, sprinkle the affected area with Bicarbonate of Soda and leave for 4 to 6 hours before vacuuming away.
White Vinegar and Bicarbonate of Soda are part of the Clean & Natural cleaning range by Dri-Pak, and are available from independent hardware stores and supermarkets. White Vinegar and Bicarbonate of Soda both have a recommended retail price of 99p. For further information and cleaning tips, visit www.dri-pak.co.uk.

New Battery from Exide Technologies
Exide Technologies has launched a new range of monobloc batteries featuring spiral wound AGM technologies. The drysafe RECUP (short for recuperation) batteries require no maintenance (including topping up) as the electrolyte is suspended in an Absorbed Glass Mat. The main benefit is that they offer superior high power performance (such as large power draws over short durations) and are well suited for fast and/or opportunity charging as they can accept a high charge.
They are ideal for a range of applications including:
·electric pallet trucks
·automated guided vehicles
·hybrid and electric cars (especially those that use regenerative braking)
·electric boats
·go-karts
·cleaning machines.
The spiral-wound design gives a greater surface area of positive and negative plate within the cell and is the most efficient way of liberating the stored energy from a lead acid battery. As well as being maintenance free, they are vibration resistant, can operate effectively in low temperatures and have minimal health & safety implications – due to the electrolyte being suspended in a glass microfibre mat; no electrolyte is spilt even if the battery case is damaged. They can also offer 450 charging cycles.
The drysafe RECUP batteries are best used in conjunction with high efficiency chargers such as Exide’s compact 2100 range of chargers (also available in on-board versions).
The technology has already been used successfully in record-breaking electric cars and boats as well as the ground-breaking Project ULTra personal rapid transit system at London Heathrow.
